Man, everybody, including me,  is complaining about the crappy tv shows that are on the stations nowadays. what happened to all the cool screenwriters? Watch the intro of  Dr. Simon Tam M.D. for example and you will understand why I desperatly wish i was born in the 70s to enjoy this fantastic version of Emergency room set in the future, hahaha!

Everything ages fast

yeah..especially oneself, haha! I found these great ads and love the way they transport the message through the illustration look. Dont think I will attend any of these media-update Seminars as i think their presentations will be out of date until D-day, but still: Have a sneak on the high res images via the link!

uuuh romantic!

Getting married has become one of the most romantic things in modern times. women are independent and self-sufficient, there are sperm banks -  so who need the ancient model of a marriage? All the hopeless romantics out there! And of course, one need a ring, e.g. the Projection Ring! Luke Jerram hand forged this one for his wife, featuring a lense and a selection of family portraits which can be projected by putting a candle behind the photos. SO cute! And if you now thought: WOW! thats a great thing, I have to order one right now, you will get this answer:

"Congratulations on your engagement! I'm afraid this ring was a one off, made for my wife. I'm afraid you'll have to make your own unique ring for your own unique partner!" haha, funny guy!

Besame, besame muuucho!

While I was browsing Audrey Ks website this morning and falling in love with the offered dresses one after another (such as the dotted "tarte"dress) I decided it might be better to check out the accessoires section and found beauutifully designed cosmetics named "Besame". I'd even love the lipsticks if the colors would suck (which they dont), just for the name!

Ditas Private Bar

Just read about it! Dita will open a very private bar called "Cointreau PrivĂ©"in the middle of Paris which will only exist for about a month. And -  of course- we all wont be able to visit it because its going to be all secret with clandestine identification marks such as a bracelet to get in...doubt all these requested "major people" are going to have a blast without us cool cats;)

Your pets will have a blast!

Summer allows  us to have lots of fun outside, which means our little pet-friends have to stay at home all alone. Why dont you lighten up their day with some funny things to play with? Such as: dog-Stache for your dog or a superfantastic playhouse for the cats?

The vintage modernity

Dare to say there were no tree huggers in 1899 and I'll proof you wrong;) Believe it or not, but they already had invented the Electric Car by then! The Baker Electric started as a two seater and had a top speed of 20 mph - quite a fast ride in these times! I really pity  they didnt continue working on e-cars, where would we be now if they did? (At least we wouldnt have to deal with a BP oil-disaster I guess)

Copycat Culture

Healthy! It took some days but I think I am on the track again.

I found a great and surprising video called "Versions" by Oliver Laric, showing the striking parrallels between diffrent pieces of art such as movies or sculptures. Watching the side-by-side videoclips really stunned me. Did you know that "The Junglebook" and "Winnie the Poo" have some exact same sequences? Unbelievable what small budgets urge creative people to do these times;)

Travel Cake

When you grow older, its getting more and more complicated to find gifts for family members birthdays because its indeed not that "cute" anymore to just draw a picture...Having that in mind, I decided to prepare a cake for my godmothers birthday and wanted something sweet but refreshing, but also something that is easy to take on the plane too! Quite a situation, so I felt really relieved when I found the right thing to bake: A white chocolate brownie with a green-tea-cheesecake swirl! YUM!

Little Miss Giggles

Little Miss Giggles has always been my favourite of the Little Miss-/ Mr. Men-books. And maybe so it comes, that Miss Giggles nowadays is one of my favourite pinup-photographers, because she always manages to make the girls look so beautifully natural, no matter how complicated the poses seem to be!
Enjoy the galleries on the page and- why dont you book your slot right away? haha:)

The Bazaarium

Even though we moved already 3 months ago, some walls in our appartment are still naked like a newlyborn. Due to this fact, I am always on the lookout for nicey prints. Today, I found Wilhelm Staehles portfolio, who is working with handcut silhouettes and scenes which could be taken from childrens books, offering them framed for 30$ - quite a good deal!

Lucky Lola

Friday is payday, so I decided to spoil myself and spend my leftovers on pretty dresses :D Best way to do this, is visiting my friends onlineshop "Lucky Lola". She's not only running the shop, but also modeling the clothes herself. Good thing to have a talented husband like Sergio Stiletto who is able to takes the pictures and a close friend like Pinky Paradise who is makeup artist and hairstylist! Oh, almost forgot to mention the last personality of the fantastic four: Miss Giggles! She did most of the advertisingshoots for Luckylola! Enjoy the behind-the scenes video:)

Everlasting Breath

For to compensate yesterdays "sexytime" we'll get a little philosophical today. While browsing the fuckyeahtattoos-blog, I learned about Jayne Wiltons art. She developed a way to catch peoples breath on copperplates and paper! Isnt that beautiful in so many ways? I think I want one of each family member - If only I could afford it!

Stationary of horror

Due to a business trip scheduled for tomorrow and the day after that, I will spoil you with another post today :) Just found a really freaking cool example of stationary for a german horror-channel, called 13th street. Could imagine to put my address and logo on it and scare my grannie with some special snail mail :D

Natural Selection

Another monday, another artist! Marianna Gartner is a canadian artist from Winnipeg (yayyy like the Weakerthans!) using vintage photography as a reference, mixing it with devils and other evil things. I really could imagine having one of her desillusioned sailor guys up my walls! If you currently are residing in Switzerland, jump on the opportunity and visit Gallerie Haas which is hosting Gartners "Natural Selection" show from 9th June- 9th July 2010.

Hoopers Electric

I came across this picture, showing 2 guys having exactly the same tattoos on their bodies, so I had to find out wether its a photoshop thing and if not, who has done the ink-work. Some googling was done and i learned about Thomas Hooper, an english born tattoo artist, working in NY. While checking out his page I fell in awe with his skills: not only is he able to tattoo super-detailed designs, he is a really good painter (studied drawing at London Institute of Art &Design)too!

If you're nosy like me hehehhe, check out his and his tattooshops website!

Chesterfieldstudy

When I was a kid, I always loved to spent the evenings  sitting by my parents on their chesterfield armchairs and sofa, feeling all cosy. I guess that is why I am so excited about Yvonne Fehling & Jennie Peiz's still-lives in this look! This adorable chesterfield pig family would look so great in our livingroom! ;)

Sneak a Peek of Mark Ryden

Well I am sure we all have heard about Mark Ryden before so I dont want to explain anything about him. The video linked below still caught my attention because its so inspiring to me to watch painters paint. And Mark Ryden is one of the really brave ones: He overpaints already done sections over and over again until he is convinced to have found the right element.

Then, I also want to share a video with you which is taken from a very interesting documentary about the private collection of Long Gone John. A great guy (and owner of a recordlabel & toy-label)!

Watermelon Vodka fun

hehehe, yes, its what you think:  its a vodka infused watermelon! So easy to prepare, so refreshing, so going to make you tipsy!I think, this is THE thing to bring to this summers BBQs.

How to:
3. Cut a hole in your watermelon, big enough to put in a funnel
2. pour as much vodka through the funnel as you can. Then let sit for a few ours (approx. 4hours) in the refridgerator. Redo this until the melon absorbed about 2-3cups of your favourite vodka.
1. Be sure to chill the melon well enough!

Nomen est Omen - his screenprinted Rockposters are monstrositly great! Unlike in america, there is no such gig-poster-culture in Germany which makes Götz Bockstedtes work even more unique and important: I am sure, he is the redeemer who took up the cudgels for all the poster-illustrators, fighting against the mainstream! hahaha;)

The Inappropriate Golden Book

Well, I hope you all survived the bankholiday weekend without any harmful zombie attacks and are ready for a short week! I returned from family weekend with half-face burned which looks pretty stupid, but I'll hide behind the office-computer anyways;)

Today, notcot.org drew my attention to Pixar Animation Story Artist Josh Cooley who is recently just finishing a pretty entertaining book showing re-told scenes from movies such as Terminator or The Godfather in a childrens book look. Enjoy the preview!

One can say, before man ventured into space, Walt Disney took the nation there! It of course was made to support The United States space program but we dont want to get too political here: I loved this little trailer! Its featuring Disney's Mars and Beyond science show and made my mouth so watery I had to order the dvd box Walt Disney Treasures - Tomorrowland right from the spot (with amazons international superspeed shipping of course;)!
